Welcome to West Cypress Church!
What distinguishes West Cypress Church?
- We are personal. No one here is just another face in the crowd. At West Cypress you will get to know people and people will get to know you. This personal atmosphere helps us become better followers of Christ and that is our real end goal. In Jesus’ words, we’re trying to make disciples. Becoming a disciple is a lifelong process, but study after study reveals that this process moves along at a faster and a deeper pace in a more personal setting.
- We are multi generational and multi cultural. When you come to our campus several observations will jump out right away. We have lots of little kids around here – young families. We also have our much loved Senior Citizens. We make it a point not to exclude any generation or race. We have native Americans who are active in our church along with the rest of us late comers - Mexican Americans, Europeon Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islander Americans, African Americans and I’m sure there are some I’ve missed. These values also drive our efforts to reach the next generation that is always seeking its own experience and its own identity. Currently we have a gathering of young believers who meet on Friday night. They call themselves ‘Encounter’ – again reflecting their desire to have a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus and with one another. And yet, Encounter does not isolate themselves from the larger body of Christ. They pride themselves on their involvement with the generations ahead and behind.
- West Cypress has a reputation of serving, We serve the local community as well as remote areas of the world. From the local Boys and Girls Club down the street to the medical needs of the poor of Honduras, we are hands on in helping. I’m always impressed at how hard our people work to help others. We have a strong work ethic.
- Integrity in our leadership team. We hold our leaders accountable. They must lead with moral authority before they can lead with official authority. We have young and older leaders. This creates a nice blend of energy and wisdom, innovation and experience.
There are still a few places left on this planet where people remember your name and care about your life. West Cypress and Encounter Church is one of them. My name is Steve Baeder and I’m the Pastor. I would love to meet you and learn your name. Most important, I would love for you to know the name above all names – the Lord Jesus Christ.
